By In Meeting, REPORT On 2016-04-15

IsoEcol 2016 was held at Ito Hall on Hongo Campus of The University of Tokyo from April 3 to 8, 2016. About 160 participants gathered to discuss isotope ecology from all over the world. A range of lively discussions were held between experts in ecology and biogeochemistry.

Naomi Satoh, Hideki Fukuda, Yosuke Miyairi, Yusuke Yokoyama, and Toshi Nagata

Transformation pathways of particulate organic matter in the aphotic layer of aquatic environments: Constraints provided by the compound-specific nitrogen stable isotope composition of amino acids
Koh Maki, Naohiko Ohkouchi, Yoshito Chikaraishi, Hideki Fukuda, Toshihiro Miyajima, and Toshi Nagata

In addition, a workshop entitled “Technical Issues Integrating Advanced Isotope Analyses into Ecological Studies” was held as a satellite workshop from April 9 to 10. Here we exchanged information on state-of-the-art ecosystem analysis methods using compound-specific isotope analysis of amino acids and radiocarbon.
