Funauki Bay (Iriomote Island) survey report

By In Field survey, REPORT On 2015-11-11

We performed observations along a transect of Funauki Bay, Iriomote Island including collection of inflowing river water. Planned analyses include isotope analysis of dissolved inorganic carbon and organic matter in seawater to determine the spatial patterns along the bay. In addition, as part of joint research with AORI Visiting Professor James Leichter from Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the University of California at San Diego, we undertook dive surveys to investigate the effect of internal waves on the environmental conditions influencing coral growth. At Saba Point. The “Saba” means “shark” in the local language. That day there was quite a strong swell.
